About Dr. Schimmer

I believe that healing happens when we take the time to listen deeply—to both the patient and the body. My practice is built on this principle: to provide thoughtful, individualized care that blends the best of nature and science.

Background

My path into medicine was shaped by personal experience. A Lake Tahoe native, I grew up with a severely autistic younger brother, and I watched my mom navigate traditional medical systems that offered few answers and little support. It was the care of holistic practitioners that ultimately helped improve his quality of life. Later, I witnessed my mom battle chronic Lyme disease in the late '90s, a time when very few effective answers existed. These early experiences sparked a passion in me for a more compassionate, holistic approach to healthcare.

In my late 20’s, I was hit with my own mystery illness —an experience that deepened my search for real healing, effective diagnostics, and meaningful treatment. These personal and family experiences have not only informed my clinical approach but have also instilled in me a deep empathy for those navigating complex, chronic conditions.

Education & Mission

I earned my Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon, and hold a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with a minor in Art. My clinical focus includes chronic illness, gastrointestinal health, hormone health, and environmental medicine. I have completed extra training in homeopathy and practice a wide range of modalities to support innate healing including homeopathy, herbal medicine, Gemmo and therapeutic drainage, nutrition, and nutritional supplements.

What sets me apart as a practitioner is the time and care I invest in each patient, my commitment to truly individualized care, and my ability to integrate the wisdom of nature with the rigor of modern science.

When I’m not in the clinic, you can usually find me immersed in nature, practicing or teaching yoga, creating art, learning how to play the guitar—or exploring what it means to be a better human in its many forms.
